Knowledge and Understanding

By the end of the course, students will:

- have a background on the recyclability of different class of materials

- have a clear picture of the assessment that can be performed to determine the environmental burdens of products and process via Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)

- have a background on the use of OpenLCA software, the free software for the LCA analysis

- have a background on the use of softwares for the selection and use of materials that enable a simple understading of the recyclability of different class of materials and of the CO2 content of their production

Applying Knowledge and Understanding

Students should be able to apply theoretical and practical knowledge to determine, understand and discuss environmental burdens related to production and use of different materials or processes.

Making Judgements

Doctoral students must critically discuss sustainability of different solutions for the same application, being able to determine the solution preferable from an environmental point of view.

Communication Skills

Doctoral students must be able to communicate to a general public or decision makers actors solutions (in terms of materials or processes) that imply the lower environmental impact.
